WHAT ARE AUTOFLOWER CANNABIS SEEDS?

Autoflower seeds are a cross of a ruderalis strain with either a sativa or indica. Cannabis ruderalis are able to flower without a change in light cycle. This is where the 'autoflowering' trait originates from. Thanks to the reduced growing time autoflowering marijuana seeds take 8-14 weeks to grow from seed to harvest. The resulting plants are between 60 -150cm in height with an average yield of 30 - 100g per plant.

From high yielding to high THC to purple weed, we sell only the best autoflowering genetics created from a labor of dedication to the craft of growing marijuana.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT AUTOFLOWER STRAINS?

Before you go ahead and buy autoflower seeds, you should have a think about what kind of strain you want to grow. Autoflower cannabis plants come in a variety of shapes, sizes and types each with different tastes and effects so it's important that you understand what you will get out of your chosen strain.

SATIVA DOMINANT AUTOFLOWERS

Sativa dominant autoflower cannabis plants grow taller and with a longer flowering period. You can expect sativas to reach between 100-150cm in height.

The high from sativas is often described as uplifting, creative, and energizing. Sativa dominant strains are normally used by those wanting a more active high that can be consumed during the daytime without feeling too drowsy.

INDICA DOMINANT AUTOFLOWERS

Indica dominant autoflower plants have a dominant cannabis indica gene. This gives them typical indica traits such as a short, bushy structure with fatter fan leaves. This makes them ideal for indoor grows with limited space.

Indicas provide a relaxing effect that offers sedation and relief from stress. Indica dominant strains are typically used by those wanting a more chilled out high and as such make you feel more sleepy which is why they are usually consumed in the evening.

HYBRID AUTOFLOWERS

Some autoflowering varieties contain an equal balance of both indica and sativa genetics giving you the best of both worlds. Hybrids are ideal for anyone that wants a mixture of both sativa and indica effects, not feeling too energetic but also not feeling to sedated. Their genetic make up also affects the way that they grow so hybrid strains will grow to a medium height with fan leaves that represent a mixture of the long sativa leaves and the fat indica leaves.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AUTOFLOWER SEEDS

FASTER FLOWERING TIME:

Autoflower cannabis strains grow from seed to harvest in as little as 8 to 12 weeks. This faster turnaround allows you to produce multiple harvests in a single season. Or if you are don't have quite enough time to fit in another grow of feminized seeds you may be able to squeeze in a crop of autoflower weed seeds.

NO NEED TO CHANGE THE LIGHT CYCLE:

Without the need to adjust light cycles, growing autoflowering plants is more straight forward. Having a continuous 18/6 or 20/4 light cycle allows you to begin your next crop of autos in the same tent. Thus, creating a seamless stream of plants ready for harvesting.

SMALLER SIZE:

Autoflowering marijuana plants are smaller, which makes them ideal for indoor grows with limited space. Their compact size also makes them easier to maintain and grow on the low-down.

AUTOFLOWERS ARE HARDY:

Ruderalis cannabis varieties are native to cold regions such as Siberia. Autoflowering seeds inherit the hardiness that allows them to survive in harsh, cold climates. This robustness makes them a great choice for novice growers or those in cooler climates.

WHAT ARE THE NEGATIVES OF AUTOFLOWER SEEDS

LOWER YIELDING:

The trade off of the short growing time is that autoflower plants are smaller and therefore produce smaller yields. However, for some growers this could be a benefit in the sense that autoflowering plants are small and therefore easier to grow indoors.

MORE RISK INVOLVED WITH TRAINING TECHNIQUES:

Because of the short vegetative stage, there is less time to recover from any stress. This means that autoflowering plants are not suited to HST methods such as topping and fimming. You can use HST methods when growing autoflower strains, although there is an increased risk of damaging the plant so it’s best to avoid unless you are a highly experienced grower.

LESS POTENT:

Autoflowering strains have lower THC levels when compared to photoperiod strains. Yet, don't let this deter you, as some of the most potent autoflowering strains can produce THC levels of 20-25%.

HOW TO GERMINATE AUTOFLOWER MARIJUANA SEEDS?

The best way to germinate auto flowering cannabis seeds is to use the paper towel method.

  1. First, moisten a paper towel without soaking it.
  2. Place your seeds on the towel and fold it over.
  3. Next, place this in a plastic bag or between two plates to maintain humidity.
  4. Store in a warm, dark place. Within 24-72 hours, the seeds should sprout.
  5. Once the taproot is visible, gently transfer the seeds to your growing medium. Make sure you plant the taproot downwards.
  6. In soil bury the seed around 0.5 to 1.5 inches deep under lightly packed soil.
  7. Keep the growing medium is moist and maintain a warm temperature for optimal growth
  8. Keep the temperature to around 77 degrees and ensure that the pH is between 5.8 and 7.

HOW TO GROW AUTOFLOWERING SEEDS OUTDOORS

Choose the best outdoor location: Autos are perfect for outdoor growers because they grow fast and remain short. This makes them easy to conceal and maintain. Choose a spot that gets a good amount of light and has protection from wind and any obvious pests.

Choose the Right Strain: Not all autoflowering strains are the same. Some prefer cooler climates whereas others prefer warmer more tropical climates. Research and select strains that are known to perform well in the outdoor climate where you live.

Timing is Key: Autoflowers reply on age and not changes in light to flower. Therefore, you can grow them from early spring right the way through to late summer. By staggering your planting dates, you can cultivate multiple harvests in one year.

Watch Out for Pests and Diseases: Just because they grow faster doesn't mean autoflowering cannabis strains are immune to pests and diseases. Regularly inspect your plants and be prepared to treat any issues promptly.

GROWING AUTOFLOWERING SEEDS INDOORS

Use Quality Lights: Invest in good quality full spectrum LED grow light or a powerful HID light.

Optimize Light Schedule: Choose either 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness or 20 hours of light and 4 hours of darkness. Both of these cycles provide your plants with optimal amounts of light whilst still providing plenty of darkness for plants to recover.

Control Environment: Maintain a temperature range of 68-77°F (20-25°C) and a relative humidity of around 40-60%. Use temperature and humidity gauges to monitor the climate and use fans and dehumidifiers where necessary to control it.

Nutrient Management: Start with a mild nutrient solution and gradually increase it as the plant grows. Autoflower plants don’t need as much nutrients as photoperiod plants. Make sure you keep the nutrients to about a quarter of normal photoperiods.

Use good soil: Good soil should be light and airy to allow the roots to grow. Because of their size autoflowering plants can get nutrient burn much more easily than traditional cannabis so try to avoid soils that are rich in time-released nutrients.

Avoid Transplanting: Start your seeds in their final container from day 1. Autoflower plants have short flowering periods and even shorter vegetative periods and transplanting them can causes stunted growth during these crucial phases.

Low-Stress Training (LST): If you want to train your plants, use low stress training methods such as ScrOG or the tie and bend method to gradually bend the branches as they grow. You should avoid high-stress techniques such as topping or fimming because autoflower strains have less recovery time.

Monitor Watering: Overwatering can be detrimental. Water your plants only when the top inch of soil is dry and make sure your pots have good drainage.

ARE ALL AUTOFLOWER SEEDS FEMINIZED?

All the autoflowering strains that we sell are feminized, which means the risk of growing male plants is almost zero. Regular autoflower seeds that allow you to grow both male and female plants do exist, but the demand for them is so low that we do not stock any at MSNL.

ARE AUTOFLOWERS BETTER THAN FEMINIZED (PHOTPERIODS)?

The choice between autoflower and feminized seeds depends on your personal preferences. Autoflower seeds offer faster harvests and convenience. Whereas photoperiods are much larger plants but can take up to 25 weeks to grow from seed harvest. When growing indoors autoflowering cannabis plants are the more popular option. Although photoperiods are the more popular choice for outdoor grows.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE YIELD OF AN AUTOFLOWER?

Autoflower yields vary depending on genetics, growing conditions, and cultivation techniques. On average, autoflowers produce between 30 to 100 grams per plant. Although larger varieties can yield up to 200 grams in ideal conditions.

HOW LONG DO AUTOFLOWERS SPEND IN FLOWER?

Autoflowers spend 6 to 12 weeks in the flowering stage depending on the strain. Indica dominant varieties are faster to flower normally taking 6-8 weeks whereas sativa dominant varieties can take 8 to 12 weeks to mature.

DO AUTOFLOWERS NEED DARKNESS?

Yes, autoflowers can tolerate 24 hours of light. But providing 4-6 hours of darkness allows the plants to rest and reduces the risk of stress.

CAN YOU PUT AUTOFLOWER SEEDS STRAIGHT INTO SOIL?

Yes, you can plant autoflower seeds into soil or any other growing medium. They don't need a separate seedling stage. But you should plant autoflowers in their final pot from day 1 to avoid transplanting them. To guarantee germination we advise to first germinate the seeds in between paper towels until the tap root shows, then planting in soil in their final growing container.

WHAT IS THE FASTEST FLOWERING AUTOFLOWER?

The fastest flowering autoflowers are Runtz, Do Si Dos and Cherry Pie Auto. They spend as little as 6 weeks in the flowering stage, taking a total of 8-9 weeks from seed to harvest.
