What are the effects of indicas?

The average Indica-dominant photoperiod strain takes somewhere between 6 and 8 weeks of flowering before harvest and requires around 4-6 weeks of vegetative growth. Although if you grow an autoflower indica it can flower in as little as 6 weeks and grow from seed to harvest in 8-10 weeks.

Are indica seeds best suited to indoor or outdoor grows?

Indica plants can grow well both indoors and outdoors. If grown outdoors, their broad leaves, sturdy build, and dense bud structure help to protect them from common pests and diseases. They do well in cooler climates and throw stunning colors as the seasons change.

Indica seeds are perfect for a small indoor environment, like a grow tent or closet. Since they rarely grow over 6 feet tall, they tend to bush out, but that growth can be kept under control with topping, trimming, pruning, and training.

How to grow indica seeds

Growing Indica strains is an excellent choice, especially if you have limited grow space. Indica plants prefer a cooler and less humid environment compared to Sativa strains, so it is important to carefully manage temperature and humidity levels since their dense bud structure makes them a little more mold prone. You may need to add ventilation and temperature control systems to your garden to keep everything perfect.

For the vegetative stage, give your plants a light cycle of 16 to 24 hours of light per day, and then reduce it to 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness when transitioning to the flowering stage. Pruning and training will be crucial during veg since indicas tend to grow out instead of up. Pruning helps maintain proper air circulation and light penetration in the dense foliage, preventing issues like mold and mildew. Techniques like topping and low-stress training (LST) can help shape the plants and improve light distribution, encouraging more light to bud nodes and a bigger harvest when you flip to flowering.

Indica strains typically have a shorter flowering cycle, which ranges from around 7 to 9 weeks. This means they mature and produce buds relatively quickly compared to some other cannabis varieties. Keep a close eye on your plants during this phase and harvest them at the right time to achieve optimal potency and quality. Waiting too long can lead to a decrease in THC levels as exposure to normal light will degrade it into CBN. That's not necessarily bad if you're looking for sleep medicine, though! 

Storage tips for indica seeds
