Now, Lava Cake Feminized is rightly regarded as one of the best modern-day strains market-wide. Her genetic lineage of Thin Mint GSC x Grape Pie lives up to expectations in every conceivable arena - potency, flavor, yield, looks, and growing ease.

This heavy-hitting Indica dominant hybrid clocks in at 70% Indica and 30% Sativa genetics and has been carefully bred to bring the very best of both worlds into one heady yet well-balanced package. Topping out at 18ish percent, she's not going to win any potency awards in this new age of cannabis, but she's anything but weak.

Starting out with a nice and even cerebral buzz (a little unusual for a strain with such a heavy Indica dominance), the first 20 minutes or so after you hit Lava Cake can offer a real creative and social boost. This soon melts into a more classic Indica-style body stone - expect to be relaxed, but not to the point that you are rendered motionless and unable to interact.

The real beauty here though is the package of effects - it's just so well balanced, making this the perfect choice for a late afternoon or early evening social gathering. Lava Cake Feminized really does offer something for everyone - including those looking for a great medicinal option.

While this is classed as an 'intermediate' strain, there is no reason why newbie cultivators can't give this strain a real go. We do suggest implementing some stress training techniques, but again, there is nothing too advanced that needs to be undertaken to ensure the most bountiful of harvests. Topping her at least twice, and running the vegetative period for at least 5 weeks if not longer.

Defoliating her quite heavily 10 days before you switch the lights to flower

ScrOGging - a ScrOG net really helps open the bushy canopy right up, and with keeping the budding at an even height for the best light penetration possible.

When it comes to the environmental controls, Lava Cake Feminized seems to do best when kept between 65-77°F (18-25°C) and with relative humidity levels of around 55% for the entire grow up until the last 3 weeks of flower, when we like to drop that down to around 42%.

If you want to boost your chances of purple and red bud coloration, you are going to want to drop the lights off or nighttime temps down a few more degrees, but keep in mind that this can have a slightly negative effect on the final harvest weight. Either way, the bag appeal here is off the charts. The trichome coverage of both indoor and outdoor Lava Cake crops is pretty impressive, and while you will end up with thicker, heavier buds from indoor hydroponic techniques, organic outdoor grown Lava Cake is up there with our favorite tasting and smelling strains of all time.

That piney earthiness that we mentioned earlier is the first thing the nose notices but is again a backup player. The aroma is about as sweet as can be, with a minty berry concoction that dreams are made of. There's also a hint of diesel in certain phenos, but this is somewhat of a rarity.

New strains are a dime a dozen these days. Potency this, flavor that. But Lava Cake Feminized? Geez, this strain is a breath of fresh air. Quite literally.

This is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of my favorite strains of the last 2 years. While potency is of course important, I tend to gravitate toward cultivars that offer something a little extra.

In this case, the richness of the aroma and flavor make Lava Cake stand out from the crowd, as does the gorgeous coloration and super evenly balanced high. This is a true go-to smoke for lazy afternoons and a great option when just hanging out with friends.

In terms of flavor, unsurprisingly chocolate and caramel dominate. This is backed up with an undercurrent of nuts and a soft piney finish. Certain phenos can also be super minty, which just works so well with the chocolate tones.

Only one word for it - Delicious.
