STRAIN TRAITS

Details

Incredibly easy to grow, Chocolope is one of the fastest finishing Sativa strains on the market. A short flowering time of 10-11 weeks make this the perfect strain for those looking to try a Sativa but don't have the patience to wait 16 weeks. The thick, dense bud structure has increased the yield potential, making this an excellent option for both novice and commercial growers.

Effects

Chocolope brings on a very clear and energizing high which is all about how this feels in your mind rather than your body. The cerebral nature of the high is uplifting and positive without being psychoactive so you won’t get that spiralling out of control feeling that some strong Sativas can suffer from. It is considered quite a motivational strain so it is often used in the mornings when you need that shot of energy or creativity. Chocolope is not recommended for nigh time use as it will ensure your brain is active well after you want to be asleep. Because of its overall uplifting nature many patients have reported that this is helpful with depression or PTSD among other metal issues.

Growing

Many growers, especially novices steer clear of pure Sativa strains in the belief that they are difficult and slow. This is where Chocolope really steps up to the mark. It is a very simple to cultivate plant that with only a modicum of care can produce some seriously impressive yields of 500gr/m² indoors and outdoors over 1kg. It will require quite a lot of space and is a tall plant so be sure you have adequate headroom before giving it a go. Its shape is classic Sativa, long branches with buds running the upper length.

Appearance & Aroma

Chocolope's shape is classic Sativa with long branches with buds running the upper length. Thin deep green finger-like leaves grow from well-spaced branches ready to drink in as much sunlight as you can give her. When the buds form, they can often take on a bright almost fluorescent green hue with bright orange hairs in profusion, before settling into a darker shade when ripe. The smell and taste are what this strain is all about though. All throughout the flowering period a fresh super sweet tropical aroma is released from the foliage and even brushing against them will send waves of scent into the air. As the buds really thicken up the smell begins to take on a more sugar tone more reminiscent of vanilla.

MSNL Editors Verdict

As far as Sativas go this is one of our favourites. It's fast enough that it can be grown outdoors in most temperate and warm climates and the uplifting high it gives is a real booster. The flavor is delicious and the yields are massive. The one slight drawback is that it does not do well in wet or humid conditions so if moisture is a problem in your grow area, be aware.

Tasting Notes

When you break into a bag of Chocolope you immediately get a smell of sweet treacle and coffee. After a short time, this is complimented by lighter more tropical flavours like a ripe papaya. When smoked these sweet tastes come through in very pleasant waves.
