STRAIN TRAITS

Grease Monkey strain information

Okay, so we all know just how fertile of a breeding ground Northern Cali has been for top-shelf cannabis genetics in the past 30 years. There are very few places on earth with comparable local genetics, and the impressive thing is that those genetics are still being used in hybrids today. Grease Monkey is a prime example of utilizing an awesome genetic heritage to create something truly special.

Tacoma may not be the first city to jump out as a cannabis haven, with surrounding cities like Portland and Vancouver usually first to pop into the minds of stoners. But, boy oh boy, does the rest of the area have a debt to pay to the Tacoma weed wizards, and so do all of us.

Some truly gorgeous strains have made their way outta Tacoma, and it's hard to argue with Grease Monkey being the best of the bunch. Gorilla Glue #4 is one of the most common ancestors to today's best strains, but the addition of Exotic Genetix's very own Cookies and Cream makes this strain a true standout.

With a 75/25 split favoring Indica over Sativa, you can expect this strain to hit hard, but even Mike Tyson himself would be surprised by the punching power of Grease Monkey.

How to grow Grease Monkey seeds?

Perfectly suited to both indoor and outdoor cultivation scenarios, Grease Monkey will thrive in a huge range of climatic conditions. She's about as hardy as a cannabis plant can be, with growers reporting fantastic yields in both overly warm and cool conditions outdoors. We have even seen reports of her lasting (and thriving) through the thick smoke associated with the raging fires of Northern Cali in 2017.

For an Indica-dominant strain, Grease Monkey is certainly a tall girl. Known to grow up to 150 cm (that's 5 feet), if you are thinking of adding her to your garden then you best get those pruning scissors ready. She is fine to be left as is, but if you top her a few times before flowering growth begins you'll be handsomely rewarded.

During the vegetative stage:

In the vegetative phase, Grease Monkey’s Indica dominance influences its plant structure, described as bushy and stout with thick foliage. Because of this, you should implement Low-Stress Training (LST) techniques such as Screen of Green (ScrOG) or topping at the third or fourth week of veg. This is particularly important if you are looking to maximize space or yield. Defoliation is also essential at this stage, taking particular care to remove any large fan leaves that are blocking potential bud sites. In terms of nutrients, Grease Monkey is a moderate feeder. You should begin feeding your plant with a balanced mix early on during veg, focusing on nitrogen-rich nutes. When the plant begins to approach the flowering phase, you should begin to reduce nitrogen levels and increase bloom nutrients.

During the flowering stage

Preflowers on Grease Monkey Feminized typically emerge around the second week after changing your light schedule to 12/12. If cultivating outdoors, preflowers will begin to show two weeks after the days begin to shorten during the summer season. Influenced by its Indica traits, the plant develops dense, compact buds. You should be vigilant about proper ventilation and humidity control to prevent mold. The buds take on a deep green hue with hints of purple. During flowering, you should prioritize phosphorus-rich nutrients, which are vital for bud development. Ensure a consistent nutrient feed, but be cautious not to overfeed. As it matures, the plant emits a potent blend of diesel and earthy aroma, hinting at its rich genetic lineage. The color of the trichomes indicates the prime harvest window: milky with hints of amber.

Is Grease Monkey indica or sativa?

Grease Monkey Feminized is an Indica-dominant strain with 75% Indica to 25% Sativa. The Indica dominance influences its stout structure and denser foliage. However, the Sativa genetics does factor into the plant’s taller height (180cm) if grown in the correct conditions and left untrained. Both Indica and Sativa traits shape Grease Monkey’s effects: a heavy-hitting body high followed by a surprising cerebral uplift.

Is Grease Monkey suitable for beginners?

Grease Monkey Feminized is a great option for beginners because of its ease of cultivation combined with tolerance to common novice mistakes. Though Grease Monkey does need moderate feeding on a consistent basis, the nutritional requirements are straightforward and first-timers will be able to achieve handsome yields from their plants.

What are the effects of Grease Monkey?

Grease Monkey Feminized has a THC content of around 27% but can top the 30% mark when grown in absolutely perfect conditions. With its notable potency, users will feel the high come on swiftly after consumption, leaving the mind in a gentle wave of calm. As the effects progress, the body begins to feel grounded, while the mind floats into a state of euphoria. The relaxing and uplifting nature of this strain makes it an excellent choice for those seeking a balanced high.

How does Grease Monkey make you feel?

Heavy hitting indeed, and that's down to a few key stats - chief among them being the truly outstanding potency. We are talking in excess of 27% THC, and even topping the 30% mark when grown in absolutely perfect conditions.

The intense body stone is followed by a surprisingly uplifting cerebral high that is mostly down to the Gorilla Glue, which makes for a nice balance. When smoked (or consumed) in very large doses, users can expect a slightly trippy experience with a fog overcoming thought patterns, making full concentration almost impossible.

And if you think you've encountered the munchies before, wait until you hit up Grease Monkey. Normal dosages will make a huge impact on appetite levels and can give great relief to people battling through nauseous bouts.

Does Grease Monkey weed have any medical uses?

Because of Grease Monkey's high THC levels, it is widely used for a number of medical conditions. Users have reported potential benefits against issues such as chronic pain, anxiety disorders and depression. Additionally, some users have found it helpful for conditions like arthritis and helping to stimulate appetite.

How strong is Grease Monkey weed strain?

Grease Monkey doesn't shy away in terms of potency. With a THC content of over 25% and minimal CBD, the effects are often described as heavy-hitting and deeply relaxing. Grease Monkey’s strength makes it a better-suited option for experienced users who are seeking a psychoactive high, as opposed to novices or first-time smokers who may find the effects to be overwhelming.

Does Grease Monkey make you sleepy?

With its Indica-rich lineage, Grease Monkey tends to lean more towards sedative effects. Users often report a wave of relaxation that can induce drowsiness, making it a suitable option for evening relaxation or drifting into a restful sleep.

What is Grease Monkey like to smoke?

What does Grease Monkey taste and smell like?

While some strains veer wildly away from the aroma with the tasting notes, Grease Monkey stays pretty true to form. Again, you'll be welcomed with a delicious combination of earthy sweetness and diesel fuel-esque undertones, with just the slightest amount of pepperiness coming through. She then rounds out again to a more sweet and earthy finish.

If you want to really get a taste sensation then try running her through a vaporizer. Grease Monkey is such a resinous strain that she absolutely loves to be vaped, and the mouth satisfaction is up there with the very best options on the market. If you really wanna get down and dirty with her, try making some homemade Rosin Hash. This helps remove any of the bitter melodies and fattens up the flavor dramatically.

Aromas can vary very slightly depending on the phenotype, but you are going to most likely be welcomed with a deep, sweet, and earthy aroma - mixed in with some diesel fuel-like undertones. This is thanks to Gorilla Glue #4 parentage of Chemdawg and Sour Diesel, with the overarching sweetness coming the way of the Cookies and Cream. There's also a slight amount of pepperiness that becomes evident as soon as the nugs hit the grinder, but nothing overpowering or off-putting.

What are the terpenes in Grease Monkey weed?

Grease Monkey's taste and aroma are largely influenced by its dominant terpenes: Caryophyllene, Limonene, and Myrcene. Caryophyllene introduces a spicy, peppery note, Limonene offers a citrusy zest, and Myrcene brings forth an earthy depth. Together, these terpenes craft its distinct flavor and scent.

MSNL editors verdict

Look, I may be just slightly biased (being a huge lover of GG#4, Cookies and Cream, and all things motorbike-related), but Grease Monkey is up there with the very best strains I have had the pleasure of rolling up in a very, very long time. I'm also a huge fan of Indica-dominant strains, especially ones that can help bring some relief from my aging, aching joints.

I also just love to get absolutely blasted every now and then, especially with a tasty little number in my bowl. Grease Monkey is easy to grow, easy to smoke, and easy to love in general. I highly recommend it for those looking for a new addition to their rotation, especially for those wanting pain or anxiety relief, or those looking for a natural sleep aid.
