Overview
Though claims that this classic cannabis hails from the cold climes of Seattle, Washington cannot be confirmed, what is known is that this strain was expertly cultivated by growers in the Netherlands during the mid 80s. The fast flowering Northern Lights strain can be relied upon to deliver THC levels of 15-18%, up to 22% under ideal growing conditions, with almost non existent levels of CBD. These numbers do not tell the whole story however with Northern Lights possessing some of the most sought after relaxation effects available.
Strain Effects
A fantastic option for late evening enjoyment or for some medicinal users, Northern Lights produces a soothing deep body stone that will leave you feeling dreamy and contented. Starting with a gentle relaxing of the muscles, the warm and comfortable feeling this high elicits often leads to a pleasant sleepiness and increased appetite which can be of particular interest for medical patients Those unfamiliar with this strain and other strong indica varieties may want to ease into it gradually.
Growing info
Northern Lights plants are best known for their shorter flowering time, generally around 8 weeks and ease of growing due to their highly resistant nature. With a moderate plant height of between 100-150cm and solid yields of between 400-500 g/m2, this is a variety that lends itself to new and experienced growers alike. Northern Lights will respond very well to LST should space be an issue, but if left to its own devices outside this hardy variety has been known to grow to tree like proportions.
Appearance and Aroma
If true beauty lies in the eye of the beholder then chances are this is what they’re holding. The emerald green, crystalline buds radiate light and closer inspection will reveal delicate streaks of purple and blue. Competing for your attention are the pronounced sweet and spicy aromas, with shots of pine and wood soon making themselves known.
MSNL Editors Verdict
Northern Lights is a classic for a reason, with the ability to lull smokers into a dreamlike state of calm and serenity, all while enjoying its soft balanced flavour and sweet aroma. Growers will be equally rewarded by plants that are easy to grow and provide an abundant, high quality harvest. All things considered it is hard not to recommend Northern Lights to anyone looking for a blissful indica weed.

"Great genetics"
Review by Nick
I started 8 seeds of which only 2 went male. I let them wilt from drought, overwatered them, underfed, and overfed yet they all did fine with minimal fuss. Although half were indoor and the other half outdoor, all plants seemed to produce the same phenotype with the exception of indoor being denser buds and finishing much sweeter in aroma while the taste is very much incense/spice.

"Easy hardy plant"
Review by Kc
This was a very easy plant to take care of. I kept them in veg for awhile and topped them several times. The result where some ridiculous monsters that with a little room from a fairly large room and one 1000w hps reached a height of 2 meters. I did have to use a carbon filter though the smell was more of an overwhelming earthy aroma. Once cut it turned to a very skunky musk with light hints of citrus. I cant say enough about how hardy it was, suffered through some rather large temperature fluctuations and even a four day power outage and roughed through it. I also had great success rates with clones. The smoke is very smooth and very light, not overpowering at all but still noce enough for a relaxed evening.

"Very small seeds"
Review by John
These Northern Lights seeds were extremely small however all sprouted out at 4 I've got 3 females. They are very low odor , 3 months into growing and they are starting to flower. so I don't know what the outcome is going to be however I have grown healthier looking plants. Just waiting for the outcome anything is better than growing bagseed I have grown plenty of bagseed and have ended up with plenty of dirt weed

"Survived season of hard weather"
Review by Maria
I got 5 reg photo Northern Lights from MSNL as freebie seeds with an order. Three grew up nicely, but after massive hurricane storms, just one survived to harvest (a miracle!) Nice indica dom standard, reminds me of first Dutch Strain indoor grows 20 yrs ago, also Northern Lights. She's an excellent plant, reliable, good yield and strength. Good work MSNL for a trusty reliable strain!!

They're right, Northern Lights will do best indoors and if you take care of her, she'll give you huge colas that are loaded with some of the most amazing buds you've ever consumed.

Organically grown in soil with great results. Very potent strain. Spot on with the skunky/earthy terpene factors, love the flavors released in the smoke.

"Way strong"
Review by Aiden
Northern Lights didn't used to be as strong as it is today. I've heard that with so many generations of inbreeding, breeders have actually been able to make it stronger, but I'm not sure. This is an epic classic though, and for good reason. Truly great pot.
